Subsea Connect takes place from tomorrow, Tuesday 11th until Wednesday 12th July 2017 in Marseille. Mike Last, CMO & VP, International Business Development of Africa’s carriers’ carrier, WIOCC will be attending and participating in a panel discussion on ‘Africa – looking forward – How is the continent set to ride the waves as it gains increased subsea cable connectivity?’.
The panel is scheduled for Wednesday 12th July (Day 2) at 12:00 -12:50 pm, Q&A format, moderated by Andrew Lipman, Partner, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. Other panellists include Artur Mendes (Angola Cables), Chris George (Google) and Byron Clatterbuck (Seacom).
Recent subsea cable rollouts increasing connectivity in Africa have been a key stimulator of economic growth on the continent, both for countries domestically and from a global perspective. This session will explore what the pathway looks like to increased reliable connectivity, who’ll be paving the way and what’s next for Africa’s digital future. - Reflecting on what’s already been accomplished – analysing and exploring the developments made by the EASSy and Main One submarine cable systems
